Hand Built Pottery
When I first started with clay I only did hand building. I start by rolling clay out with a rolling pin to the thickness that will work best for what I'm making. To give the clay various textures I either press the clay onto an actual object or press the object on to the clay. See my blog if you're interested in the process!
This was a house I built for someone based on pictures she took of all angles of the house. She wanted to surprise her parents on their anniversary with this rendition of their home. Instead of a candle, this house has a small lamp light inside. I've also done churches for wedding presents which are sometimes based on the actual church but not always as the building doesn't always translate well into clay. Prices based on the complexity of design and generally range between 250 - 500$. Check out my blog Aug 21,2011 entry for the process!
